SIX TIPS FOR GRABBING A BARGAIN

August 8, 2018

  1. Who actually buys stuff for full price?? Buy on sale lovelies! It may mean waiting a little bit longer to get that long awaited something – but seriously, it will come down in price.

  2. Are you a total book lover? Aside from joining your local library (which is great); but if you’re actually after a book to keep, check out www.bookdepository.com. It will literary transform your bookworm fetish – brand new books at AMAZING prices! (Make sure you check with the folks first before buying online...but mention to them that they’ll save a packet load of money and they just might agree – by the way, did I mention the FREE postage anywhere around the globe?!)

  3. Have a swap meet; or a suitcase rummage. What that means is this: Look through your wardrobe (or closets, dresser draws, or bookcases) and take out anything that you haven’t worn or used for a long time (that generally indicates you won’t miss it!). Pack it into a suitcase; have your girlfriends around for a sleepover and SWAP! That means you get a new look to your wardrobe and it costs you nothing! The power of recycling!

  4. Speaking of recycling – what does the word, “Vintage” actually mean? Vintage clothing? I’m sure it’s just a fancy word for second-hand; or pre-loved! So, why don’t you check out your local LifeLine or St Vincent’s de Paul – (they are seriously the best places to buy scarves by the way, which you can then use in the traditional way tied around your neck, or get fancy and wear as belts, or hair ties, or tied to your backpack!). You’ll get things cheaply; as well as contributing to a good cause.

  5.  Actually think before buying – ask yourself, “Do I ACTUALLY need this?” Now, I know we can talk ourselves into buying anything, but perhaps take a look at how much you have already in your room; and reconsider next time wanting to spend on things that are really not necessary. It is after all, only stuff.

One final word: Hunt. A lot of cultures around the world do actually ‘bargain’ for their goods. They never accept the first offer. So look around; see what’s out there; there are always so many variations on the same theme. Sometimes, a lot of fun can be had in the hunt for that special something....
